muting tags is not a bad idea. but i don't think it would be a good approach for content moderation. you'd have to trust people to self moderate or like force the tag into the body of the post

maybe what we can do is add follow and mute buttons to the hashtag pages. then users can have more granular control over what they want to see. this will probably become necessary as we keep growing
