when people say "i find...", "in my opinion..." they reserve their comment twice:

1) the comment is 'held back' or downplayed: "no need to get upset with me, it's j u s t m e who holds an opinion"

2) the comment and the self is protected: "as a free individual i have the right to hold an o p i n i o n " [no matter if the statement is correct]

subjects that would otherwise fall into the lines of proper judgement and valid argumentation now get substantiatet by this subjectivation. they get treated as mere expressions of taste.
