Wasn’t sure whether I should reply or not given I’m not particularly ashamed of my autism. Maybe it’s because I was diagnosed late and had to chase down a diagnosis for it (for accommodations at school) that I don’t feel the way you do.
But I am also AuDHD specifically. And the ways that the ADHD part manifest make me feel pretty ashamed of myself. And I think throughout my life, my autism kinda… made the ADHD less noticeable? So that could be another reason. I’m also medicating for the ADHD now, so it’s a little of an apples/oranges comparison, but thought I’d share anyways.
I’m also lv 1 autism, and I also feel a little icked out by the “Asperger’s” label (and its diminutives) for some reason, so you’re not alone there.
