so far doing research i heard of a lot of third party alternatives but found dead ends because they either were only being sold on websites like aliexpress that i have no experience with and don't know the legitimacy of or haven't been produced in three years, but i have found one that's been attested for on reddit from Baseus. looks like it should have all the ports and functionality needed for keyboard, mouse, ethernet, hdmi, etc. it's $40 instead of $80 for the official one but it doesn't come with a charger while steam's does. gonna keep looking and see if anyone replies to this with a better alternative but i'll try and make a decision some time tomorrow and make a post once it arrives and i get to use it :)
