i'm a white english guy - most of my first employers were old white english guys, several of them underpaid me and two didn't pay me for multiple days work. I usually bring this up when racist white brits throw around their prejudices about other nationalities.

However, I once worked for a small moldovan-owned company. the boss paid me less than the minimum wage, put me in dangerous situations, and was generally disrespectful. Two other moldovans later told me they would never work for another moldovan (;_;)

A nigerian friend stopped me from messaging a west african guy selling a van on fb marketplace. He saw the guy's name and put his hand on my phone and said "don't be stupid bro".

I don't think this is racism, but it's something.

On the tier list it goes;

Stereotyping -> prejudice -> racism -> discrimination

I think it’s normal to stereotype people (positive + negative) because it gives you a loose gravel foundation, until you can form an independent opinion of the individual, free of prior assumptions.

Even within my own community there are certain things I will advise friends of other backgrounds to be aware of, until they know the individual. Not to discriminate, but to understand where certain behaviours can *potentially* come from.

Only cowards and feeble brained people jump to racism and discrimination; most level headed people will just have the info running in the background, and override it once they get to know a person for their independent characteristics ( ・∇・)

(side note: sorry to hear of your work experiences dude :( i hope your work life is better now (⁎⁍̴̆Ɛ⁍̴̆⁎) )

ty for that. Work still ain't great, had shit job after shit job for ages now, but still trying to get to something a bit more stable.

I do wonder what will happen with prejudices when the system collapses.

Surely in many places it will get worse, but if millions of previously stable settled people have to become refugees, there has got to be a shift.

I guess it depends in what way it collapses; people need to work on prying off the propaganda machine from their brains more than anything, so if/when collapse happens, they don’t just short circuit back into the us vs. them debate.

It’s the same shit remixed until individuals have enough awareness to take accountability for how they treat others, themselves and the world around them (΄◉◞౪◟◉｀)
