if you see a fledgling on the ground, don't immediately assume that it needs your help! it might just be a feathered, healthy bird that's just learning to fly. the parents are probably nearby, watching and feeding it.

the rare exception here is if the bird is in immediate danger. for instance, if it falls from a tree and ends up sitting in the middle of a busy street, dazed and confused.

in case you're not sure whether the bird is okay, call your local wildlife rescue and ask for help!
