I feel like this site is full of much kinder people than places like Instagram and other social medias, or at least, that’s been my experience so far.

I hope it stays that way, I hope everyone remembers each other’s personhood.

definitely
the lack of an algorithm helps, I think
instagram pushes hateful content specifically, even for comments
(Tumblr is the only popular social media platform I've seen that has nice people, and it also lacks a proper algorithm)

You’re so right. I feel like most social media platforms actually cater to the hatred and fuel it. I mean, I guess it creates more engagement and helps them make a profit, but no amount of money can outweigh the damage being done. They don’t even remove content that’s clearly hateful/harmful unless it’s at such an extreme that they can’t ignore it. It’s awful, and really demoralising.
