You don't pick up an instrument for the first time and are good enough to play a concert. You don't pick up a paintbrush for the first time and get in a gallery.
You have to go through the trials of your writing not being as good as you want it to be in order to get to the level you're happy with.
Practice writing things you're less precious about if you wanna get past the cringe. Or come back and rewrite it later when you're happier.

Or lean fully into the cringe and write that friendfic so you know what it really feels like lmao. Cringe builds character
