every customer interaction is the exact same. "excuse me sir / ma'am..." followed by that confused 'i don't know how to address you' mumble. i've given up on correcting people entirely. every time this happens, i think 'wow, an NB/GNC person would kill me to have this experience right now'.

the amount of times I get misgendered at work but in the "I cannot fit you into one of two categories" way would send a nonbinary person into an extreme jealous rage

I mean, it's very sad. But unfortunately this is how it is. You can't change people perception of you by force, that's just not how it works. Of course, your close people will know you good enough to not make such mistakes, but it's impossible to ask strangers to do the same, especially at first couple interactions.
