I remember reading MLK’s autobiography and seeing him talk about how much work he did to avoid playing into negative black stereotypes and I remember thinking, wow… it’s like we’ve lived opposite lives.

I do nothing to not play into black stereotypes, in fact I feel like I accidentally make them worse for everyone.
