Things aren't expensive because farming is hard, farmers today constantly complain about how they have to manufacture supply and demand just to stay in business, so do restaurants and food chains, they have to throw food and products away just so they can sell things at a price that is livable, because of the fact that food is so abundant, especially in controlled environments.
