I feel like websites like this need to make a comeback. A place you visit, hang out and then close.
AI will permanently taint everything for now on, so it will never truly be the old web, that's well dead; but places like this bring back the idea that the internet was a destination you visited and not lived on. The internet was at its best when it was a utility you could explore, when there was mystery and self expression.
If AI does anything in this space, hopefully it gives people the creative energy of late 1990's to mid/late 2000's to build fun and mystery again. Yes I want to read a random garden blog from someone named David, or a photographers zine that they make from love, not money. Yes I want to travel forums about something obsecure or a hobby etc. Give me something to do other then scroll.
I know this is early days, but I hope this platform sticks around. It reminds people that the Internet used to be a fun destination and inspires young and old to begin treating it as a community again.
