The idea that it is safer to assume god exists than to suffer his wrath is a dastardly trick that cannot be true.

It can’t be true because it creates a kind of phobia of being honest with yourself about what the actual truth is and only a lie asks that of you.

It is a trick because buried in it is the belief that god is so evil he punishes free thinking. Robbing us from seeing that maybe our creator is good.
