"I need to get out of the city. I know you move around."

"Well, maybe I do, but what's in it for me?"

"You would have died if it wasn't for me. You owe me."

Some people around might start to take an interest. The two of you lower your voice.

"I suppose I do owe you. But I don't see why it must be me. There are plenty of people willing to take some guy on a trip for a few coins."

You say nothing.

"Unless you have no money or...", he stops, thinking for a second. "Ah. You're marked. That's why you have so much mud on your forehead."

After making sure no one cares enough to listen to the conversation, you respond. "Precisely. Will you help me?"

"No can do, buddy. International politics are tensing up and merchants are getting more exhaustive checkups. It took me years to build a decent reputation with the guys in charge. I'm not going to risk it just for you. But since it is true you helped me in the past, is there anything else I could do for you?"
