i was never really into superhero stuff, so i got into invincible knowing it was different and a subversion of the genre

i laughed at the "parody" characters in the opening scene, little did i know that it was all a ploy to get me to genuinely enjoy superhero media

i do really like powers in media though, but only if they have like super in depth mechanics, i love when characters metagame their own abilities, or when they have like super in depth logic to them, to me it's the most fun part of writing a powered character

that's probably why i enjoyed watching jojo, every character uses their powers in the most bullshit way, like rohan who has the power to write commands on people, and consistently uses it to write "cannot harm rohan kishibe" like any sensible person would.
i also love how in part 1 dio has like freezing powers, and instead of it just being "i have freezing powers because im a vampire" he explains a whole novel of information about how it works and technically makes sense
