Now, objective main reply done. Let's move to personal experience. I've come here from a post @liz 🌟 made on a different medium. Primarily, I interact with people in an established friend group, mostly focusing on games. Secondarily, 4chan. Reddit is far behind other means of online interaction.
The main people who'd come here
1) Browse Reddit (see above.)
2) Don't use adBlocker (younger demographic, especially in tech circles)
3) Be open enough to enter a new place you've only seen through advertising
If I were to one day browse Reddit dot com without an adBlocker, I personally wouldn't click it. Similar with my browsing friends, those who are in their own tight-knit communities of two dozen members, if that.
There are no rules in those tight communities, neither is in this. But there is a specific kind of person in each, each making a decision, each decision making the group more moderated, purely out of their own volition.

Choices made are paths created, to be stepped on by those to follow.
