I recommend the Metro games in order, genuine trip.

Metro 2033 (Redux)
Metro: Last Light (Redux)
Metro Exodus
Metro 2039 (releasing this year)

Amazing story games about the consequences of war.

My last obsession was The Alters. I'm somewhat enjoying Graveyard Keeper. I'd say RPGs, crafting stuff, semi-story-rich.
Or racing games.

Anything indie or from small studios?

Sigh... I'll give Rimworld a try on the SD. I can't see it being comfortable, but ppl say it is, idk. Frostpunk it's somewhere on my list and didn't know Alchemist Simulator, thanks!
