About distros, don't worry about looks, any linux distro is fully customizable if you're wanna to spend some time tinkering. So you can take any distro and make it look however you like.

Basically, beginner friendlines is a bit of a illusion. You'd probably have to tinker with something anyway, so choose whatever sounds fancy.

But, i would recommend for starters any debian based disto, ubuntu, mint, fedora, debian itself. They have more info about them online, and you can easily install .deb packages there.

Or another good option would be to choose arch, or anything arch based, because archwiki is very thorough, and you can find answers to most of your questions/issues.
