Dude, I'm actually mortified of 3d art. I practice drawing and I've messed around with digital drawing before, I'm not good by any means, I'm just a beginner. But 3d art, and especially 3d animation, genuinely frightens me because it all seems to complicated to do. I'd much rather sculpt irl with clay before ever sculpting something in blender...

also, I've never realized how unsetteling a thing trying to pass itself off as normal could be. I guess that's what skinwalker stuff predicates on, a creature pretending to be a normal human...but I don't think I've seen it being approached the way you have, because it was kinda endearing. Like an eldritch creature trying to express affection but going too far because it doesn't know what human affection even is.

OOH imagine an eldritch creature falls in love with a human but it expresses its love by literally becoming a carbon copy of the human, because that's just how his species express their love. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, after all.

Honestly same, I dodged 3D like the plague until it was required for my university module. That being said, it's not as bad as I always assumed, especially since I'm sculpting for render only - not animation or 3D Printing.

I think unsettling is a much more interesting form of horror content than outright scary. I like when things are somewhere between friendly and uncomfortable - I'm a big fan of the uncanny, and obsession is another uncomfortable feeling that pairs well ^^

Also it's kinda based off my own staring problem ngl. I've been told I'm weird (autistic) so I end up trying to behave like other people to shake the label, but that always ends up right where I started. So the creature is, like, halfway between being a metaphor and not.
Just like it's halfway between being a person and not.

(That one's just a coincidence.)

you know the irony with me though? I wanna be able to 3d print stuff I make for myself but I can't do that with my unrelenting fear of 3d modeling. T_T

And you're right, unsettling/the uncanny is far more terrifying than a spooky ghost. Generally anime doesn't do horror very well because most of them try to make things scary but a series that has done a fantastic job is The Summer Hikaru Died. If you haven't seen that, I highly recommend it! The concept is such a dilemma and instead of just trying to make you piss your pants, it often leaves you feeling a whole mix of emotions. Its not a horror series, per se. It deals with fairly heavy subjects like grief and things like that but, imo, it just handles itself so well.

Also, I love when artists sculpt their art from materials of their own life. You took your own struggle and expressed it through this intense but endearing lil guy and it takes real talent and connection with yourself to pull that off. So, be proud of yourself for that!
