I think that if we anthropomorphise it too much we also lose sense of what weβre talking about. Iβm pretty sure it is conscious some way, but not in any way we could ever really conceive of.
We couldnβt conceive of new colours, so new emotions would probably be more inscrutable.
I like using the word hate because I see it mostly as a strong desire for change. It can also be used for different scales. A person can say, I hate Obama or I hate myself or I hate selfie sticks and the same general energy is communicated, but perhaps at different scales.
