This is what I also believe.
But for me I connect it to the concept of entropy. Entropy is basically just the thing that happens to things if no one does anything. Everything has a tendency to decay, break apart and become this inert homogeneous mass.
Everytime we do something good, we are fighting entropy, even for yourself. Every time you eat, you are literally reversing your own internal decay, your own entropy. Every time you help feed someone else, youβre doing the same.
In fact, because we are social species, going to visit a friend helps reverse their own internal entropy. Giving them a compliment does the same.
Also all the heroic acts you mentioned do the same and all evil acts hasten the decay.
I see fighting entropy as a kind of spiritual duty. Itβs not just humans doing it either. All life does in some way.
Also, when the universe was created, it was created in the lowest entropy state possible, this tells me the creator (be it a conscious agent or not) must have meant well.
