I'll be honest. I didn't know about most of what you just said. Like the cat thing, I thought he named it but if he was just a kid when they got the cat then I can't blame him for the name even if he came up with it. he was just a kid, how was he supposed to know the implication of the name...and if his grandfather named it then ig that makes more sense.

The name of the deity sounded racist at first but if it just means black in latin then ig there is an explanation for it. Is it fair to say that white people of old saw people of color and just called them black...is that where the slur originates from?

Also, speaking of Lovecraft, its undeniable that he was an amazing author. I found a giant (~500 pages) collection of his stories called Eldritch Tales. I have been making my way through it and im almost half-way done. There are a lot of really cool stories in it ngl.
