if we lean into the anarchy/community thing we've been doing, we could have users anonymously vote to remove someone or something, or collectively come to a decision non-anonymously which would probably have less risk of exploitation
of course people will try to game the system by botting (or having too much free time) so it'd have to be some way where there's less risk of that
to be fully honest, i don't want to be banned or muted lmao. i don't think i would be, but im acknowledging that i'm biased toward thinking of this community as "my kinds of people" when i know there are people who could join and just as unanimously dislike me and want me gone.
i don't know how to solve this issue. to me, having some sort of system where users could publicly agree to axe someone or something might be good, i think that could be influenced most by the core members of the community rather than random people
anyway this is my take, please share your thoughts if you have any

this site is definitely on a tipping point right now.
having no moderation has been really nice, but that will eventually lead to trolls. our greatest defence right now is that the site really isn't interesting to any bad actors. you can't send images and the people here are chill
on the other hand, if moderation features do get created (individual moderation like blocking or community moderation like banning) that will inevitably change the sphere.
if blocking is introduced then i can see the main board becoming less uniform and nice. our kindness has been shaped by being forced to share a public community, and the community has been shaped by us in turn. i like that (at least right now) i don't have to share a space with anyone unsavoury, even if they'd be blocked
on ANOTHER hand, having moderators would prevent trolls, but it'd make me feel less comfortable here. i'd feel like i was being watched and judged, and i really like that this place has no ruler. what would constitute a removal anyway?
