im pretty sure it works by letting sweat pass through easier, and with it the smell, the hairs act like little trappers for the sweat so they struggle more to get through, its like those videos of people with raelly thick hair getting it wet and it only gets on the surface

I doubt that tho. I believe the hair helps them evaporate more easily, since the contact area with the air is larger thanks to the hair. It's also what i observe when i shave, it feels like it sticks to my skin longer.
