That's already a pretty cool start. I've played some games involving embedded systems and microchips (SHENZEN I/O and Turing Complete are really good) so i wanted to get into the real thing.

Might get either a pci board that can communicate with my pc or one with an arm processor on it.

Pico-ice looks nice but i was looking more into the computational aspects of fpga's and the heftier artix series

I do have some "experience" with embedded systems and programming in general, which is probably why fpga's seemed so interesting to me. I'll probably buy a little 30 bucks pcie fpga and see what i can do with it...

what kinda stuff have you been able to do with that pico? Seems like an interesting little board

If you just want more storage there's an easy fix: installing more storage on your old laptop. Easiest thing to do and if you can find some guides on your specific model it's doable for someone without experience. (and it's so much cheaper than a whole new laptop)

You'll have to check what type of storage you have before buying new storage, different laptops use different types
