Roko's Basilisk is utter nonsense. First, an AI *cannot* be omnipotent (omnipotence is a paradox, and I doubt such a machine could even be conceived by the human mind). Second, what the hell is the point of torturing a copy of someone who hindered its existence? Itβs *just a copy*! Not the original. It would be wasting time and resources torturing a copy of someone who has been dead for centuries; and even if there is something after death, an AI cannot travel to other dimensionsβlet alone affect "souls" or consciousnesses that have transcended the physical world. And finally... if it does exist, then nothing will alter its existence, since it has already managed to come into being in its own timeline, and no one in the past could change thatβit would simply result in a different timeline.
