sooo i played standard for 5 years and got to being comfortable with 8* maps (SOME higher 8* that were possible too). loved streams loved tech/finger/aim control, long maps. dt phases existed too. then my tablet broke, started working again, but the game became a little boring. i switched to mania and have been playing that for about a year now. can play some good shit top 10k too now. cant give you a * rating for mania since manias star rating system is genuinely fucked up LMAOOO theres maps that are 4.5* and harder than some 6* maps.
that's incredible! at my peak i was at 7* max. then i took a 2 year break and now i'm stuck at 5* but i don't mind because i just play casually instead of the miserable state i was in at 4 digits lmao. never was a fan of mania (i dislike how people map it) but i like other vsrgs like djmax :)
yeah playing for fun is generally the strat to even become better in the first place im not going to lie. i know exactly what you mean with that miserable state lmao. i was for the first 2-3 years extremely focused on ranks and whatnot and ruined my fun like that. then started playing to have fun not earn fun and everything just fell into place. mania is the first vsrg i played (besides piano tiles) and love the cancer these mappers create. ill probably stick with it and at some point play 7k cause that shit looks extremely fun. my accounts name is chiller in case you wanna check it out.
yea by miserable i mean i was too focused on rank and it ruined my fun to see myself lose a few ranks or not get an fc for pp etc. i'd love to check you out but i banned myself on the actual game (asked the admins to ban me to stop my addiction years ago) so i cant see much LOL i play on mcosu, no ranking so full casual fun
