So, something with people around you and a sense of community, but not necessarily hardcore gameplay, right ?
I can suggest Team Fortress 2, it has gameplay that range from medium to extreme depending on how you want to play, the community is usually goofy and not that bent on winning the round (unless you're playing competitive. Don't do that.)
Overall very fun ! And free, too.
Or you can try Chivalry 2, also pretty awesome and you don't have to have good aim, since it's melee
