Agree for the most part, but also humans have a lot more choice when it comes to lifestyle, self-expression, etc. Who you are isn’t just your preferences on the inside but also how you carry them out.

i'm saying even those things don't add to identity past delusion
as in for example someone who believes in a cause and works for it will be proud of it and make it part of their identity to feel like they are someone when it doesn't actually make them someone
or someone who dresses a certain way will hold onto that but again it's false to believe the way they dress allows them to be someone
attaching any one thing whether it's a job or belief or action or whatever to identity is delusion at best
my conclusion isn't negative, i'm basically saying one can do anything because none of it matters. it's when we start attaching things to our identity and thus make them important that we start feeling distraught.

They have meaning if you give it meaning. All of us humans are just “heat maps” of the concepts and things that are important to us or we identify with. That both includes what you’re drawn to, and what you choose for yourself. Idk, I’m a bit of an existentialist.
i tried to incorporate existentialism into my life but it just didn't work, i found that elements of absurdism fit more into how i view things. but well, saying i'm an absurdist or nihilist or existentialist or anything is just deluding myself into doing the very thing i talked about in my post.
people are free to give their lives meaning at their own scale, i honestly think it's the only way humans can make it through to old age without losing it. that might be why i'm losing it actually, because i just can't hold onto anything without realizing the meaning i'm giving it is fabricated.
