If you just want more storage there's an easy fix: installing more storage on your old laptop. Easiest thing to do and if you can find some guides on your specific model it's doable for someone without experience. (and it's so much cheaper than a whole new laptop)

It depends what you want to do with it. Game? Write? Have lots of things running at once? Just browse the web? Watch media? And also what OS do you want to use, windows, Linux or IOS? Whatever you get try to get, make sure it has a removable SSD card so you can easily upgrade the storage space if you want to :)
