At least some displeasure, yes.
But there is a vast difference between "I think this could be better than what I have now" and "I despise what is now with all my being and want it to be different"
Perhaps not a fundamental difference, but a non-negligible difference in scale.

Yes, exactly. So the difference is only one of extent. So it may be better to say, displeasure is a desire for change.

But if whatever this thing that displeases you makes you create a universe with 70 sextillion stars and all its pin pricks, illnesses, rapes and wars, then that desire for change was probably not a slight displeasure.

I can agree with that, although I'd rather say "displeasure creates a desire for change".

Fair point, fair point. I can't pretend to think like a potential Creator™, but I'd say that if the world was empty, Boredom would probably a good source of displeasure, rather than hatred. What would you even hate in the void ?

Yeah, that’s all true also.

I think that if we anthropomorphise it too much we also lose sense of what we’re talking about. I’m pretty sure it is conscious some way, but not in any way we could ever really conceive of.

We couldn’t conceive of new colours, so new emotions would probably be more inscrutable.

I like using the word hate because I see it mostly as a strong desire for change. It can also be used for different scales. A person can say, I hate Obama or I hate myself or I hate selfie sticks and the same general energy is communicated, but perhaps at different scales.

Well, we have to assume its mode of thinking isn't too far off from our own, else it doesn't make sense to even discuss it.

Mh, I see the appeal of using the word that way, it is very polyvalent, if perhaps a bit watered down, hate is supposed to be very strong.

Yes, wow, I agree totally with that. You have to anthropomorphise a little to understand it, but I was just saying as a reminder also to myself that assuming the thought process has its limitations.

But yeah, words are more descriptive than prescriptive. As long as you can communicate you can word words win whatever wording way woo wording want.
