The answer is to give your kids tech, but make it the tech that requires some level of skill to use.
You want your phone? Sure, but it's a feature phone. You're not getting a full-on smartphone to use around the house, and if you do, I'm giving you the most complicated piece of shit Linux phone imaginable.
Why? Because they're going to learn how this shit works so it doesn't exploit them. The reason kids fall down this brainrot rabbit hole is because getting trapped in the doomscrolling web is one-click, you click one of these apps and it now spends most of its time trying to get you to open it. This wouldn't have worked on a more tech literate population because most people would see how it is managing to suck people in under-the-hood and opt out entirely. Using social media, tiktok, X, Roblox isn't the problem; using it while not understand how it works or what its business model relates to you is the problem
